Coral Gardens
Accessible only by boat, due to the steep cliff lines, Coral Gardens is home to some of Maui’s most beautiful coral heads (hence the name). Tucked away along the West Maui coastline, it provides excellent shelter from trade winds. Fish, turtles and even an occasional monk seal can be spotted here. Coastal Living Magazine has listed this as one of the top 10 snorkel sites in the world! We agree this spot has spectacular underwater views.
Abundant Aquatic Life
Coral Gardens is a unique, beautiful natural reef formation, that is in a protected bay. It is home to many Hawaiian green sea turtles, and hundreds of species of fish. Coral Gardens is located along the Pali Highway mountain pass. Cliff lines surround this cove protecting it from wind and rough seas. Aerial views show a spectrum of blues and greens that come to life when snorkeling.
Private & Safe Location
With only a few boats at this location, this snorkel spot is more elite and private. With visibility reaching 40 feet this expansive reef is breathtaking. Coral Gardens is an ideal, medium to shallow-depth, snorkeling location because the seabed slopes gradually away from the shoreline. This makes it a perfect spot for the beginners and intermediate snorkelers.
The Maui Magic is proud to assist in conservation and protection of the coral reefs surrounding Maui. We strive to help educate everyone we take snorkeling. We encourage guests to use Reef Safe Sunscreen (also offered onboard all our vessels) and ask you to not touch marine life as it can be damaging to the fragile coral and ecosystem.
